Steering Wheel and Horn

The MM2000 is fitted with a removable quick-release competition steering wheel, complete with the traditional yellow centre-position marker at the top of the rim.

Rather than lose the character of the original Morris horn button when fitting the competition wheel, the centre carries a vintage Morris ‘M’ horn press, cleverly converted to operate the horn wirelessly. This means the steering wheel can still be removed instantly, with no electrical connection or trailing wire to disconnect.

The horn can be operated either from the steering-wheel centre or from a separate dashboard switch. A dashboard LED illuminates whenever the horn is activated, whichever control is used.

For additional control, the wireless steering-wheel horn circuit also has its own discreetly hidden isolation switch, tucked beneath the dashboard just to the right of centre.

The steering wheel was completely rebuilt in May 2023, when the wireless horn system and Morris centre horn press were incorporated.

A removable steering wheel is also a great security device since it is much harder to steal a vehicle which cannot be steered.

It is a good example of the MM2000 philosophy: competition functionality without losing the car’s period character.
